너무 유명한 이야기인데 이제서야 읽었네.
어휘가 다소 구식이긴 하지만 1953년도 뉴베리 후보작이니까 이해가 된다.
주제는 우정이지만
철딱서니 없지만 순수한 돼지(윌버)와 영악하지만 필요할 때 도움을 주는 쥐(템플턴),
거위들과 양들.
무엇보다 거미(샬롯)의 우정을 위한 희생이 심쿵하긴 하다.

양과 윌버의 대화;
"Pig mean less than nothing to me."
"What do you mean, less than nothing?" replied Wilbur. "I don't think there is any such thing as less than nothing. Nothing is absolutely the limit of nothingness. It's the lowest you can go. It's the end of the line. How can something that was less than nothing, then nothing would not be nothing, it would be something - even though it's just a very little bit of something. But if nothing is nothing, then nothing has nothing that is less than it is."
샬롯이 7개의 관절을 가진 자기 다리에 대해 설명;
"Furthermore, each leg of mine has seven sections - the coxa, the trochanter, the femur, the patella, the tibia, the metatarsus, and the tarsus."
샬롯의 마지막 감동 스피치;
"You have been my friend." replied Charlotte. "That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what's a life, anyway? we're born, we live a little while, we die. A spider's life can't help being something of a mess, with all this trapping and eating flies. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone's life can stand a little of that."
